Welcome!

Hi my name is Crystal Henriques and I am going to be a Kindergarten teacher. I beleive that each child learns at his own pace. I will teach each child all that I can and use fun, creative, and different techniques to teach the children. I beleive that parents should be involved as much as possible in their child's education. I will be available to answer questions and to meet or talk to parents.

I want each child to leave my classroom with high self esteem and self confidence. They will all go on to first grade with high hopes and bright smiling faces.

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND, NO!

I do not agree with Bush's NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND act. A child should not be held back a grade just because he does pass a standardized test. If a child exceeds his grade level he should be able to pass to the next grade. What is happening now, is the teachers are teaching THE TEST and not teaching what children should actually be learning in grammar school. The teachers and schools are afraid to "fail" and look like a bad school. Let's say that a child enters the third grade reading at a first grade level. The teacher works with that child so much he improves to a third grade reading level in one year. The student has moved up two grade levels in one year! Don't you think that that child should go on to fourth grade? Well if he does not pass the FCAT then he does not go on to fourth grade, what will that do to that child's self esteem? ITS NOT RIGHT!
